We Got a Fish.

Our weekend fun started at Nightfall where we enjoyed the sound of a North Carolina native, Nikki Hill. Miller Plaza was poppin’ compared to how we’re used to seeing it during our workday lunch breaks. The place was enlivened by the numerous food trucks, motorcycles, people, and their dogs.

On Saturday, while Oliver held down the fort at the apartments to cheer on the Heels on our behalf, the rest of us headed to the North Chick Blue Hole on the North Chickamauga Creek Gorge. We spent the afternoon swimming, people watching, and avoiding snakes.

IMG_9252Oliver, Katie, and I explored another facet of the downtown by checking out a Lookouts baseball game on Saturday night. Though we were slightly terrified by the mascot (What even is a Lookout??), we eventually mustered up the courage to cop a pic. We rooted for the home team and ended the night feeling like true Chattanoogans as we sang “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” with the locals. In addition to it being a beautiful night, the Lookouts took the win against the Tennessee Smokies, which made for an all around great time.

Sunday was a much more low key day. We wandered around the Chattanooga Market where the Street Food Festival was taking place. We bought some homemade bread and grabbed lunch before we watched the UNC women’s lacrosse team take the national title. That afternoon we made our weekly shopping trip to Target. A few of us ended the night biking around the city and watching the sunset on the Walnut Street Bridge.

IMG_9265The highlight of Memorial Day was watching the men’s lacrosse team win the national championship game. Two titles in one weekend made it an extra #GDTBATH. To add to the excitement of the day, we got a fish!! Since we had a TV stand in our apartment with nothing on it, we figured we needed some sort of placeholder. Ironically, Jordan’s aunt hooked us up with a TV that same afternoon. #noragrets. Mr. Miyagi has settled in quite nicely in his windowsill abode.

On Sunday evening, we had a team meeting to touch base as a group and set goals for the upcoming week. We ended the weekend and got a sweet start to the week with a stroll to the NorthShore for some gelato from Milk & Honey. After a relaxing three day weekend, we’re excited to get back on the work grind in Chattanooga!
